Why We Built This

When OpenClaw launched in late 2025, the SOUL.md feature captured our imagination. Here was a system that let you define an AI agent's personality through a simple Markdown file — giving it opinions, humor, communication style, and values.

But we noticed a problem: information about SOUL.md was scattered across GitHub repos, Twitter threads, Medium essays, and Discord conversations. There was no centralized resource explaining the concept, the philosophy behind it, and how to use it.
